The Awakening: Looking Back at 2016

In December 2015, our small missionary team met to discuss plans for 2016. The team was made up of my parents, my then fiance, and me. We felt impressed of the Lord to choose the theme “Awakening,” as a focus for the New Life Church in Bucharest, Romania. My parents, who are also my supervising missionaries, Michael and Jill Patterson, are appointed missionaries to three countries. Many cities were discussed and it was a busy meeting.

Tips on How to Navigate Missions

Missions is a desert, in that it sometimes feels dry (tradition). Missions can also be like the ocean, a lot of water (people) but nowhere to quench your thirst (friendship). What about comparing it to a mountain trail (uncertainty), a city intersection (confusing), or even to the launch of a rocket ship (anticipation, success, and then silence). In any comparison, we all have to navigate our calling to local missions or world missions with wisdom.
